Kamelo, the little chameleon who changes colour
Kamelo keeps your child company every evening. He is warm, curious, a little clumsy and always happy to see them. Here he is, brought to life by the same engine as in the app.
His mood
His colour
His rewards
In the app, colours, patterns and accessories are earned by practising, with colour drops. Nothing is bought.
He takes on the colour of the subject
Blue for spellings and English, yellow for maths, green for lessons and science, purple for poems, orange for languages, and teal when he is resting. On the home screen, he takes on your child’s favourite colour. When he changes colour, the new colour spreads through his whole little world.
Seven moods, and he never mocks
Calm, curious, happy, proud, thinking, encouraging, sleepy. Kamelo never mocks, never sulks and never turns red with anger. After a few days without practice he just looks a little paler, and his colours come back at the next session.
A mistake? It’s an ‘almost’
When your child gets something wrong, Kamelo tilts his head and encourages them, with no red and no failure sound. The item comes back a little later. When today’s homework is done, Kamelo celebrates with a somersault.
He doesn’t speak in words
Kamelo babbles in his little voice, with no real words, and all his lines on screen are written in advance. You can’t chat with him, and that’s on purpose.
He gets sleepy at 8.30pm
After 8.30pm, Kamelo gets sleepy in the app: he yawns and his eyelids droop. Reminders are only ever for parents, on school nights.
An original character, full of life
Kamelo was drawn for the app. He is a digital puppet: he breathes, blinks and looks around, never twice in quite the same way. The same engine brings him to life on iPhone, on Android and on this site.
Questions parents ask
Why a chameleon?
Because he changes colour: each subject has its own, so your child sees straight away what they’re working on. And because a chameleon is small, curious and a little clumsy, like a good homework companion.
Are the rewards bought?
No. Colours, patterns and accessories are earned with colour drops, by practising. There are no purchases in the child space.
Can my child change Kamelo’s colour?
Yes: on the home screen, Kamelo takes on your child’s favourite colour, and your child can dress him up with what they have earned.
Tonight’s homework, without the fight.
